DARREN Elliott was delighted to see Oxford City Stars return to form as they put 11 goals past Slough Jets.
The defending league champions had lost three of their previous five games, but made light work of title rivals Slough.
The 11-5 win also saw them take control of the National League South Division 2 Cup Group 2.
Elliott, who also chipped in with a goal, said: “It’s good to get a bit of fun and nice hockey back into the mix after a couple of losses this season.
“We haven’t had the best of games lately, but we’ve worked hard in training and tried to get a bit of team chemistry back in the mix and it seems to have paid off.”
There were plenty of reasons to be cheerful for the player/coach, who was particularly pleased to see Warren Jones make the most of an opportunity to score three goals.
He said: “We had a short bench, which gave some of the other guys a chance to step up.
“Warren did that and got a hat-trick.”
