MOTORSPORT: I deserve to keep place, says Chilton
10:00am Saturday 19th October 2013 in Sport
Max Chilton believes his form since Formula 1’s summer break proves he is worthy of another season in the sport.
While the Banbury-based Marussia team confirmed the re-signing of Jules Bianchi for 2014, Chilton remains in limbo,.
But the 22-year-old, from Reigate, feels he is not just there to make up the numbers.
In Japan, in particular, Chilton out-qualified Bianchi for the first time this season under regular circumstances.
“I feel I’m showing not just the team, but everyone on the whole, that I deserve a seat for next year,” said Chilton.
“Everyone gets judged, so you have to prove yourself, which is hard for rookies these days, which means it’s going to take part of the season to get up to speed.”
