Tom Castle scored the winner as Kidlington knocked morning Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division leaders Reading Town off the top with a shock 1-0 victory away from home on Saturday.

Castle struck in the second half with a terrific 30-yard effort.

That allowed Wantage Town to go back to the top after a 2-1 win at Highmoor Ibis.

A Callum Gallimore own-goal and a Tommy Wright strike won it for Wantage after Ben Spence’s opener. Oxford City Nomads won 1-0 at Wootton Bassett Town, thanks to a header from Ben Moses. Shrivenham crashed to 4-1 home defeat against Ascot United.

Joe Gritt, Matt Jones, Jermaine Roche and Lee Boon did the damage for the visitors with Harry Ether-idge replying.

Niall Hodgkins scored a double as Thame United bounced back to form with a 4-1 victory against basement boys Abingdon United who are still without a league win.

Ben Connolly and Ellis Hercules completed Thame’s tally with Leon Blackmore and Shawn Foster on target for Abingdon. Abingdon Town drew 1-1 at home to Bracknell Town. Antony Booker scored for Abingdon, with Sam Barrett replying.

Clanfield strolled to a 3-0 win at Malmesbury Victoria, thanks to goals from James Fleming, Foley and Olly Oswin.

Carterton had a day to forget as they were hammered 8-0 at home by Fairford Town in Division 1 West.

Dan Drewett (2), Nathan Gambling (2), Callum Parsons, Alex Rudd, Henry Traas and Jack Allan netted for the visitors.

Letcombe’s woes continued as they lost 7-0 at home to Purton for whom Blaine Fitzgerald (2), Scott Campbell, Jamie McGahey, Nick Mccrae, Marcus Hall and Dave Gee netted.

Old Woodstock Town lost 3-1 at home to Shortwood United whose scorers were Sean Lawson (2), Callum Brown, Will Hawes and Nick Humphreys. Kieran O’Dwyer replied.

Easington Sports had to settle for a 3-3 home draw against New College Swindon, despite having been 3-0 up at one stage.

Dan Reeves, Lewis Travers and Andrew Stidder scored for the hots, with Max Slinn, Lee Toomey and Christy Miller replying.

Lee Newport, Ross McDonald, Oliver Thomas, Jamie Clark goals were in vain for Didcot Town Res as they lost 6-4 at Rayners Lane in Division 1 East.

Goals from Paul Hedger (2), Ben Cuff and Joe Cook earned Headington Amateurs a 4-1 win against Oxfordshire neighbours Chinnor, for whom Jonathan Feaver was on target.
