12:00pm Saturday 14th September 2013 in Sport
Banbury Under 15s’ hopes of a national title fell just short as they lost at the semi-final stage of the Lady Taverners T20 finals day at Leamington Spa.
After being inserted, Banbury struggled against some accurate bowling from West Midlands side Walmley and could only make 83-6.
Opener Emily Ong led with 33, backed up by skipper Charlotte Boland with 18.
In reply, Walmley needed only ten overs to get home, thanks to unbeaten knocks of 36 from Georgia Davis and 21 from Rebecca Brazier.
Walmley went on to win the final against Newport.
Scores: Banbury 83-6 (20 ovs, E Ong 33), Walmley 85-1 (10 ovs, G Davis 36no).
Tomorrow, Westbury take part in the National Under 13 T20 finals which are being held at Challow & Childrey.
