AARON Burgess and Rachel Masser enjoyed dominant victories in ideal conditions.

Oxford City’s Burgess won the men’s title by almost a minute, while Masser (Woodstock Harriers) took the ladies’ honours by 42 seconds.

Burgess, 31, completed the two-lap six-mile course in 33mins 18secs, with Mike Smith (Bourton Road Runners) second and first vet 40 in 34.11.

Running for Woodstock as a second-claim athlete, Bob Storey finished third in 34.19.

Masser clocked 37.47 to see off another Bourton athlete, Shona Crombie-Hicks.

The 39-year-old added the the vet 35 title for good measure, while Diane Moore (Headington Road Runners) was third in 38.38.

Tim Hughes showed he is still in fine form for his age by securing a top-ten finish.

The White Horse Harriers athlete secured an emphatic victory in the vet 60 category with 35.52.

Hughes was tenth overall, while clubmmate Ian Lambourn took the vet 50 honours in 37.44.

Headington’s Nicola Smith (42.05) was the first senior lady in 64th, despite finishing behind nine veterans.

Kidlington’s Sue Morton won the vet 45 ladies’ crown in 43.33, with Alison Lane (Bourton) the vet 55 champion in 44.08.

  • DARRELL Bellinger continued his return to form by finishing second in the Bearbrook 10K at Aylesbury.

The Oxford City athlete clocked 31mins 56secs to finish just 18 seconds behind Sri Lankan Olympic marathon runner Anuradha Cooray.

  • MARTIN Townsend was the first vet 50 man home in the Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 Trail Marathon.

The Woodstock athlete completed the 50km route in 4hrs 29mins 25secs to finish 17th overall.
