Oxfordshire Under 15s gave their best performance of the season when they beat Herefordshire by 92 runs in the ECB County Cup at Stonesfield.

After losing the toss and then a wicket in the second over, Oxon recovered to 264-6 from 50 overs thanks to a consistent batting display.

Graham Beer (56) was the only batsman to pass 50, which he did off only 33 balls.

George Woodley capped things off by hitting the final ball of the innings for six.

In reply, Oxon bowled and fielded superbly and took wickets at regular intervals.

Seamer Ross Packham claimed 3-19, while off-spintook Harvey Eltham took 4-35 in a well-drilled team performance.

OXFORDSHIRE Under 16s made it three wins out of three as they saw off their Under 17 counterparts by six wickets in a friendly at Great & Little Tew.

A fine bowling and fielding display restricted the Under 17s to 154 all out, before the Under 16s eased home with nearly four overs to spare.

The Under 17s lost early wickets in the face of some hostile bowling from opening pair Tom Costley and Hendrick Robyns.

A partnership of 60 between Harry Ackland (45) and Zak Jarvis (35) steadied the ship, only for the lower order to fall away to spin duo Max Mannering and Saim Hussain.

In reply, a 73-run stand for the second wicket between Alex Davies and Joel Washbourne-Calcutt put the Under 16s on track for victory, which was was secured by James Fitzjohn and Callum Russell.

OXFORDSHIRE Under 14s moved up to fifth in ECB County Group 2 after posting a three-wicket win over Bedfordshire at Henlow.

The visitors restricted Beds to 148 all out in 41 overs, Alex Ling taking 3-6.

In reply, Max Smith (23) and skipper Jordan Garrett (46) shared 44 for the first wicket. Although Oxfordshire lost a clutch of middle-order wickets, they reached 150-7 in the 29th over to seal victory.

TIGHT bowling from Oxfordshire Under 11s’ Harry Startin re-duced Northants 17-4 to at Wellingborough.

The hosts did well to recover to from 66-8 to 102-8. Felix Foot’s unbeaten 42 saw Oxon to a five-wicket win.
