BILLIARDS: Veteran Olive's efforts are in vain

Ken Olive played what he described as “his best game for years” for Cowley Conservative Club B in their Gentworks Oxford & District clash with Oxford Bowls Club.

But despite the 88-year-old winning his match, he was still on the losing side.

Olive (+80) defeated John Williams (+50) 150-74, but it was all in vain after victories from Terry Gripe and Omar Sharif gave Oxford Bowls a 2-1 success.

RESULTS

Cowley Conservative Club B 1, Oxford Bowls 2; Riley B 2, Thame 1; Fieldside 2, Riley A 1; Ashton 3, Eynsham 0; New Club 1, Abingdon Conservative Club 2.
