10:20am Saturday 23rd March 2013 in Sport
THE Evironment Agency have asked anglers to be on the alert after an Oxford and Abingdon Angling Alliance bailiff discovered a number of set lines in the Thames.
These consisted of a long length of line with up to 20 baited treble hooks.
They were removed by the bailiff and disposed of.
The EA are asking anglers to call their incident hotline if they see anything at all suspicious. Their number is on the rod licence and is 0800 807060.
Meanwhile, Lechlade Trout Fishery continued to produce some cracking specimens throughout February. On Lechlade Lake, 442 anglers caught 1,052 fish, with an average weight of 11lb. A staggering 819 fish were over 10lb, of which 212 were brownies. The largest was 22.6.0. On Bushyleaze Lake, 257 rods caught 641 fish averaging out at 4lb, the largest 10lb.
