RACING: Williams to train at Blewbury

Noel Williams, assistant to top National Hunt handler Alan King for the last decade, is to set up as a trainer at Blewbury, near Didcot.

The 36-year-old will rent the 18-box White Shoot Stables from Eve Johnson Houghton, who trains at the neighbouring Woodway Stables.

Williams, who is due to embark on his new career in late May, said: “I feel the wide range of experience that I have gained in such a high profile and varied yard, will prove invaluable to my future career.

“I am fully aware that the current economic climate is not ideal in which to start a new business.

“However, I feel that the time is right for me, so it’s now or never.”

Williams is taking out a dual-purpose licence, but is set to train jumpers in the main.
