Season’s previews for Oxfordshire’s Formula 1 teams

ROMAIN Grosjean would love to make it second-time lucky again by being crowned Formula 1 champion this season.

Grosjean has enjoyed a remarkable racing record, winning the French Formula Renault championship in his second full year and repeating the feat in the Formula 3 Euro Series and GP2.

So ahead of his second full season in Formula 1 with Enstone’s Lotus, can Grosjean pull off the same trick?

It would appear a tall order given the calibre of those around him and Grosjean said: “Let’s see. There are 19 races, but it would be fantastic for us.

“First we have to see how the car is, then I want to get to December, look behind me and be proud of what I did.

“I don’t want to have to wait a long time to be confirmed. I want to be proud and happy, and then move forward from there.”

Towards the end of last year Lotus kept Grosjean hanging on for an answer as to whether he would be retained following a rollercoaster campaign.

There were podium finishes in Bahrain, Canada and Hungary, but he was involved in many first-corner crashes that ultimately resulted in a one-race ban.
