Oxfordshire’s boys and girls teams suffered relegation at the Aegon 18 & Under County Cup.

Playing in Group 4 in Sunderland, Oxon’s boys went down on sets won.

They lost to section winners Leicestershire 6-3, before beating Northamptonshire 5-4.

But results went against them and they lost their relegation battle with East of Scotland 5-4.

Meanwhile, in Shrewsbury, Oxon’s girls, also in Group 4, lost to section winners Derbyshire 9-0, Berkshire 7-2 and then 6-0 in their relegation battle with Shropshire.

ST Helen & St Katherine’s School (Abingdon) led Oxfordshire’s qualifiers for the regional quarter-finals of the Aegon Schools’ National Championships.

They beat Oxford High 8-2 to book a last-eight clash at home to Wycombe Abbey next week.

Headington School won 8-4 at Marlborough College B, and will now entertain Tudor Hall (Banbury), while Our Lady’s (Abingdon) defeated Downe House (Cold Ash) 10-2 to secure a home tie against Marlborough College A.

OXFORD Sports were crowned champions in the men’s Thames Valley Premier League.

They completed a 100 per cent record after Brackley gave them a walkover.
