ATHLETICS: Reynolds crowned British champ

KAY Reynolds picked up a gold medal in the British Masters Athletic Federation (BMAF) Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.

The Radley athlete won the vet 45 ladies’ 60m hurdles in 9.24secs and also picked up a silver in the 40m flat, clocking 8.61.

Her gold was matched by Abingdon Ambler Noel Blatchford, who was the first vet 65 lady home in the 3,000m race walk.

Blatchford crossed the line in 18mins 32secs, while clubmates Roz McKenzie (vet 45) and Judy Howard (vet 55) took silver in their age groups, clocking 19.16 and 19.28 respectively.

Radley’s Lyn Ahmet secured vet 60 silvers in the long jump with a leap of 3.46m and triple jump with 7.61.

Jan Ellacot (Radley) bagged a bronze medal in the vet 50 ladies’ 400m where she clocked 1min 10.02secs.

Oxford City’s Steve Winter secured silver in the vet 40 1,500m race, recording 4.40.55.

Bicester’s David Kuester won one silver and two bronze medals in the BMAF Winter Throws Championships held outside at the same venue.

Kuester finished second in the vet 65 javelin with a throw of 32.45m.

And he collected shot put and discus bronze with respective distances of 9.66 and 31.93.

V60 – 60m: 6 L Ahmet (Rad) 10.36. 60mH: 4 L Ahmet 13.24 pb.
