Joe Pickett in action for Chinnor
CHINNOR captain Joe Winpenny said the players were frustrated not to give prop Joe Pickett a winning send-off.
Pickett played his final game before heading off for a year in Australia as Chinnor lost 21-17 at home to Dings Crusaders in National 2 South.
Although Pickett scored Chinnor’s opening try and excelled in the loose, his team were ultimately punished for a sloppy final quarter.
“It was really disappointing that we couldn’t get the win for him in his last match, especially as he played so well,” said fellow prop Winpenny.
Chinnor’s defeat came from a rare poor home display and Winpenny said they were determined to make amends.
“We have a week off next week, but we’ll still train,” he said. “Then we have got two tough games against Shelford and Henley.
“The great thing in league rugby is that you always have a chance to put that right.”
- OXFORD University ended their season with a 7-6 defeat to Trinity College, Dublin at a very wet Blackrock College.
Fly half Charlie Marr kicked two penalties for Oxford, but a try from centre Ariel Robbes, converted by full back James O’Donoghue won it for the hosts.
