MOTORSPORT: Walkinshaw claims sixth

CHIPPING Norton’s Sean Walkinshaw posted a top-six Copa class place in the second round of the 2013 European Formula 3 Open Winter Series at Jerez, Spain.
In his first competitive appearance at the track, the Team West-Tec driver, who started 21st on the grid, drove his Toyota-engined Dallara F308, for 14th place overall in the combined classification.
“The race was always going to be hard work from where we started, and the tyres weren’t in great shape, but we still made some progress,” he said.
The 19-year-old is now gearing up to the start of the 2013 European F3 Open Championship on April 27-28 at the Paul Ricard circuit near Marseille, in France.
