BAR BILLIARDS: Sheard victory seals Kennington revival

KENNINGTON have one hand on the Johnsons Buildbase Oxford League Premier Section trophy after beating rivals Vikings 3-2 at home, writes PETE EWINS.
But they had to come from 2-1 down in a hard-fought contest.
Kevin Godfrey won the opening game for Kennington, scoring a 10,840 break against Alan Oliver.
Mike Jones was in brilliant form, however, recording a score of 14,080, including a break of 8,170, to level.
Allan Lacey (7,230) then made 2-1 to Vikings.
Ian Gordon (7,600) and Steven Sheard (9,080) then sealed an important victory for Kennington, who now lead by nine points with three matches remaining.
The race for the Section 1 title is hotting up after joint leaders West Oxford Democrats Club and Masons A both triumphed 4-1.
Masons were victorious at Section 2 leaders Gladiators A thanks to Dave Rose (3,630), Maxi McDonnell (4,290), Martyn Wood and Alan Lowe (7,560).
Democrats got the better of Marlborough Club on their own table.
Richard Garrett and John Patey (7,650) put them 2-0 up before Arthur McIntyre pulled one back.
But Terry Green and top-scorer Billy Hill (9,100) then completed victory.
Masons B won 5-0 at home to Gladiators B, with Chris Webb (6,700), Paul Cooper (5,240), Ernie Smith, Martin Skyrme and Nigel Francombe doing the damage.

- OXFORD C won 3-2 at home to Witney B in the Inter-Area Cup first round, first leg, with Keith Hollis, Sid Ponting and Martyn Wood all victorious. Oxford B went down 4-1 at Portsmouth.
