ATHLETICS: Ahmet leads Radley charge

RADLEY athletes bagged a host of medals in the South of England Veterans Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.
Lyn Ahmet led the way with two vet 60 golds after recording 3.48m in the long jump and 7.54m in the triple jump.
She also finished third in 60m hurdles (14.38secs), fourth in the 200m (36.07) and fifth in the 60m (10.39).
Jan Ellacot (LV50) claimed 60m silver (9.32) plus bronzes in the 200m (31.55) and 400m (1min 13.94secs).
Alastair Duncan (V55) earned silvers in the 60m (8.11) and 400m (58.72) along with bronze in the 200m (25.85).
Oxford City’s Stewart Thorp won silver in the vet 60 1,500m with 5.09.41, while clubmate Steve Winter (4.42.56) secured bronze in the vet 40 1,500m.
City’s Jacqueline Breslin claimed vet 40 ladies’ bronze in the 200m (32.32).
Bicester’s David Kuester collected gold medals in the vet 65 long jump with 3.43m and shot put with 9.56m.
Kuester, 68, said: “Due to my recovering right knee after surgery last October, I decided against entering the indoor pentathlon as I did not feel confident enough to do the 60m hurdles!”
- RADLEY’S Joe Finch clocked a personal best time of 7.55secs in his 60m heat in the England Under 20 Indoor Championships at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena.
Clubmate Hayley Perrin achieved season’s bests in the long jump (5.09m) and high jump (1.55m), finishing 11th and 18th respectively.
