ABINGDON United were denied victory at Taunton Town in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West by James Short’s late goal.
Neither side produced an effort on goal in the opening 20 minutes.
Taunton’s Clay Bond headed over from a corner ten minutes before half-time, while Abingdon’s Steve Davis saw his 25-yard drive saved as the first half end goalless.
But five minutes into the second period, Abingdon took the lead when Toby Nowell cut in from the left, and squared to Aaron Woodley, who picked his spot from five yards.
Matty Biddle shot over the home bar from ten yards, while Owen Irish did likewise for Taunton at the other end.
Abingdon looked as if they would hold on to their lead until nine minutes from time when Short’s shot was deflected past stranded Abingdon keeper James Foster.
Two minutes later, Abingdon’s Chris Baker was sent off for a clumsy challenge.
But despite, being a man down, United held out without looking as though they would concede again.
