ROY Creighton and Jess Lawrence defeated Oliver Buckley and Riley Stokes to land Witney Leys’ inaugural Jean Kloos Memorial Shield at Wood Green School.

Twelve pairs took part in the event, which was set up in honour of Jean Kloos, the club’s late assistant head coach, who died from cancer last April.

Shortly before her death, Kloos was organising an internal club tournament called Strictly Badminton where senior Leys members teamed up with juniors.

The shield was presented to the winners by club chairman Norman Stewart and their head coach Judith Le Good.
