Oxford City missed the chance to move up the Blue Square North table after they were held to a goalless draw by lowly Histon at Marsh Lane last night.

Clear-cut chances were at a premium and the closest City came to a goal was a second-half header from Adam Learoyd which hit the bar.

Felipe Barcelos saw an early effort saved by Histon keeper Calum Kitscha, who then foiled Mark Bell with a smart parry.

City made the running, but the game was played at such a hectic pace that passes went astray from both sides.

Centre back Chris Wilmott sent a chance over the Histon bar, as did Barcelos from an Andy Ballard throw.

Home keeper Matt Ingram was called into action, saving well from Charlie Day before the interval.

The youthful Histon side came into the picture more in the second half, but their good approach work was spoilt by a poor final ball.

Learoyd saw his header hit the bar from another Ballard long throw, but City were indebted to Ingram, who denied Claudia Hoban late on.

Oxford City: Ingram, Stonehouse, Stanley, Ballard, Learoyd, Willmott, McNish (McEachran 80), Pond, Holgate, Barcelos, Bell (Cook 75). Subs not used: Gunn, Glass.
