Oxford City Stars battled hard, but went down 8-4 at Bracknell Hornets in their English National League South Cup Group 2 clash.

The Division 1 hosts established a three-goal lead, before Andy Cox pulled one back for the Division 2 visitors.

However, Bracknell restored their three-goal cushion shortly afterwards, and Oxford conceded again before the end of the period.

Darryl Jones reduced the deficit in the second session, before Stars teammate Jordan Gregory was ejected after showing dissent to a blatant hooking call.

Jonathan Bayliss picked up his first senior goal for Stars, before Hornets made it 6-3.

Bracknell stretched away with two more goals in the final period, before Jayson Lyon notched his first of the season for Stars.
