Former Banbury United player Jimmy Knox died on Monday at the age of 77.
Knox played briefly as a professional with Raith Rovers and Coventry City – making two Football League appearances for the Sky Blues – before moving into non-League with Rugby Town, Lockheed Leamington and Corby Town.
He then joined Banbury United, making 47 appearances in the 1968-69 season, mainly in the half-back line.
After one season at Banbury, he returned to Rugby and subsequently managed them and Leamington, guiding the latter to the Conference.
He then took charge at VS Rugby, winning the FA Vase at Wembley in 1983 with victory over Halesowen Town, and taking them into the Southern League and up to the Premier Division.
A minute’s silence was held as a mark of respect before Banbury’s 3-0 win over Leamington at Spencer Stadium on Boxing Day.
