A TEAM of ten runners set a new 100km treadmill team world record at Radley College.

Pupils Hugh Gordon, James Pascall, Alex Stinton, Robin Eliot, Charlie Metcalfe, Lorenzo Edward-Jones, Ollie Williams, teacher Paul Fernandez and Oxford City AC members Darrell Bellinger and Julian Richardson took part.

Taking it in turns to run 1km legs at the school’s sports centre, they completed the challenge in 5hrs 9mins 5secs on a treadmill lent by The Park Club, Milton.

This broke the previous record set in Australia earlier this year by 15mins 5secs.

For many of the team, this was not their first world record.

Fernandez has run the fastest marathons dressed as a clown, cartoon character, and Elvis and been part of a 48-hour treadmill record.

Last year, he, Williams and Eliot were in a Radley team that set a 100-mile treadmill team record.

Bellinger and Richardson broke the record for ‘fastest marathon by five runners joined together’ at this year’s Abingdon Marathon.
