GOSFORD All Blacks are determined to improve their sevens play after a “rude awakening” in Dubai.

The Oxfordshire club lost all three matches at Dubai Social Sevens, which ran alongside the main IRB Series.

Gosford fell to Dubai College Old Boys (19-0), the Pie and Pint Pilgrims (29-14) and Moscow Dragons (33-0).

Captain Tim Ellis said: “Overall it was a bit of a rude awakening for us in terms of the standard of the other teams out there and as a group we’d played very little sevens in the last 12 months.

“We’re hoping to enter more domestic tournaments next year to allow us to be more competitive when Dubai 2013 comes around!

“It was a truly amazing experience and it was great to represent our club at such an international event.”
