Oxford United will host Southend United in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Southern Section semi-final next month.
This morning's draw saw Chris Wilder's men avoid the npower League One sides, Leyton Orient and Yeovil Town, who are left in their section.
United have never reached this stage of the competition before, beating Swindon Town, Cheltenham Town and Plymouth Argyle so far.
The tie will be played at the Kassam Stadium in the week commencing January 7.
