ALFIE Potter says he is delighted to play anywhere in an attacking role for Oxford United after featuring in several different positions in the last month.

The 23-year-old has played on the right of a four-man midfield, as a right-winger in a front three and as a second striker.

Potter, who has played in all but two league games this season, is pleased to have had such a key role, wherever U’s manager Chris Wilder wants him to play.

He said: “I’m just happy to be playing as often as I am.

“I’ve had a couple of seasons where I’d play a few games and then I’d be on the bench, so it’s enjoyable playing regularly, no matter where the gaffer wants me to play.

“I’m used to playing out wide or in a front three and I quite like playing off Beano (James Constable) up top.”

Potter is likely to revert to a wide role tomorrow, with top scorer Tom Craddock in contention following an injury.

He and Constable have 16 goals between them so far, while Potter hit five in the first two months of the season.

The winger is keen to start chipping in again, as well as create for the strikers.

He said: “I started and scored some goals, they’ve dried up a bit lately but I’m hoping to get back amongst it.

“Beano’s started scoring now, Tommy Craddock’s coming back so the team is looking healthy at the moment.

“If you give them chances they’re going to take them with the form they’re in, so as long as people like me are providing them with opportunities, I’m sure there will be plenty of goals.”
