OXFORD go into the mid-term break placed fourth in South Clubs League Division 2, following a 2-0 home defeat by a strong Spencer side at Oxford Brookes. The hosts held their own well in a goalless first half. Catherine Reaney kept Spencer at bay, while Vicky Quantrell made some important interceptions. Spencer had more of the openings, but were denied by keeper Phil Swindell.
The visitors, who are second in the table, took the lead with a deflected shot, despite some notable defensive work from Sophie Shilston.
This prompted Oxford to raise their game, but the opposition defended well.
Spencer made it 2-0, playing the ball in from the right to their centre forward who slotted home.
