Didcot Town’s winless run in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West 1 increased to four matches as their injury-hit side went down to a 2-0 defeat against in-form Bridgwater Town at the npower Loop Meadow Stadium on Saturday.

Boss Gary Elkins made a number of changes following Wednesday’s 4-0 mauling at Winchester City, with on-loan Eastleigh left back Callum Casson handed his debut and player-coach Ian Concannon drafted in.

It was the club’s record goalscorer, Concannon, who had Didcot’s best chance, but could only head Ryan Tappin’s cross over the bar.

Bridgwater took the lead when Joe McClennan fired past a stunned Marcos Belloli-Pereira in the home goal from 25 yards out.

Didcot were struggling to get back into the game and the lead was duly doubled after the break when Bridgwater striker Ross MacNab headed home from Zayne Simpson’s pinpoint cross. Just to compound Didcot’s problems, Taylor Janes went off with an ankle injury as the Railwaymen’s poor run continued.
