Steve Howkins netted a double as Ardley United reached the Hellenic League's Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup quarter-finals with a 5-0 hammering of Premier Division strugglers Abingdon Town.

The took the lead when Adam Garner headed in a corner. Joe Eyre doubled Ardley’s lead after the break from a long clearance before Ollie Stanbridge made it 3-0, jinking his way through before firing past Gareth Walker in the Abingdon goal.

Howkins bagged a fourth, before completing his brace in injury time.

Premier Division Wantage Town suffered a scare before beating Division 1 West outfit Lambourn 3-2.

With eight minutes left and Lambourn leading 2-1 after Richard Guy and Adrian Mooney cancelled out Sam Parish’s opener for Wantage. However, late goals from John McMahon and Tom Butler spared Wantage’s blushes.

Carterton crushed Henley Town 5-2 in the first round of the Supplementary Cup, with goals from Jamie MacDonagh, George Seacole, Michael Duerden, Simon Oakley and Tomasz Mazur. Prince Alozi and Andrew White replied for Henley.

Hook Norton lost 5-1 at home to Slimbridge, for whom Dan Holloway (2), Saul Williams (2) and Junior Maderner did the damage.

Easington Sports suffered agony as they went down to a last-minute 3-2 defeat at Purton.

Easington’s James Hastie and Andrew Stidder had cancelled out Rich Crocker and Ryan Child goals.

But Ashley Gooch ended Easington’s hopes of a replay with the winner for the hosts.

In league action, Thame United won 3-2 at Flackwell Heath in the Premier Division.

Paolo Cicero and Louis Cordice appeared to put Flackwell in control, but a Ben Gray double and a Nik Rhodes strike won it for the visitors.

Clanfield, with former boss Pete Osborne back at the helm, hammered visitors Lydney Town 4-1, thanks to goals from Dean Mays, John Edmunds, Ben Williams and an own goal. Mark Lee (penalty) scored for Lydney.

AFC Hinksey slipped to a 3-0 defeat at Bracknell Town in Division 1 East.

Shane Cooper- Clark, Josh Delander and Tom Barratt scored for Bracknell.
