Esher 10,
Oxford University enjoyed a perfect confidence-booster ahead of next week’s Varsity Match with a convincing victory at Esher tonight.
The Dark Blues, who will bid to complete a hat-trick of wins over old rivals Cambridge at Twickenham on Thursday week, were recording just their second win this season.
They got off to a flying start against Esher when left wing Oscar Vallance scorched in for a try after just two minutes, with centre Cassian Bramham Law landing the conversion from the touchline.
Eight minutes later, Bram-ham Law scored Oxford’s second try when he finished off good interplay between the forwards and backs, before seeing his conversion hit an upright.
The Dark Blues were dominant and second row Will Rowlands charged in by the posts for their third try after 25 minutes, with Bramham Law converting.
Esher pulled a penalty back to make it 19-3 at half-time.
Despite making a number of changes at the interval, Oxford continued in the same vein and Bramham Law went over for his second try in the 44th minute.
Play then became stagnated in midfield before Dark Blues right wing Henry Hughes finished off a good move to score under the posts, with replacement fly half Charlie Marr landing the conversion.
A series of scrums in the last five minutes ended with Esher scoring a converted try.
