GROVE regained top spot after beating a weakened Wallingford side 45-5 at the Hithercroft.

Wing Guy Nicholl and centre Joe Bellinger scored two tries apiece, while full back Roger Sevier had a 100 per cent kicking record.

Wallingford had eight first-choice players missing, but battled hard as flanker Ed Glynn led the way.

Sevier kicked Grove ahead with a penalty, then converted the opening try from wing Harry Carr.

Nicholl powered over for his first and added a second out wide.

Lock Paul Miles and Bellinger went over before the break, with Sevier’s conversions making the half-time score 38-0.

Wallingford lock Mike Ward bundled over for their sole try, but Bellinger’s second score rounded off an impressive Grove display, Sevier finishing with 15 points.

Alchester scored ten tries to crush basement boys Slough 64-0.

Captain Tom Iles and fly half Tom Miles grabbed a brace each as the hosts dominated proceedings.

Wing Kristian Ancil and Miles struck the opening blows on 12 and 15 minutes, with the latter converting both tries.

Iles raced in from 60 metres and Alchester had a bonus point after 20 minutes when full back Robin Tyreman notched try No 4.

Miles converted this, plus efforts from forwards Nick Brits and Jamie Jones, for a 40-0 half-time lead.

Iles, Miles, No 8 Joe McEneaney and centre Adam White completed the try tally, Miles converting two.
