Jon Jukes won the singles title for the second time at the ODDA summer finals night at the Oxford Sports & Social Club on Friday.

Jukes, from Chequers Inn A, saw off the challenge of first-time finalist Terry Wood from Rose Hill Community Centre.

It was Jukes who started the stronger as he rattled off a number of high scores to take the first leg.

Although Wood upped his game in the next leg, Jukes took it for a 2-0 win.

There was more success for Chequers as Phil Addison and Ron Anderson claimed their second pairs crown with victory against the Cowley Workers duo of Lyndon Richards and Wayland Honour.

Chequers claimed their third win of the night as victories for John Russell, Ade Larner, Aaran Stevens and Ronnie Anderson saw them lift the George Pegram Cup for seven-a-side teams with a 4-0 success against George Bar A.

Michelle Ewins of Florence Park Community Centre A won the ladies singles title for the first time after beating reigning winter singles champion Phil Young (Village Inn).

Both players hit two tons in the opening leg.

And it was Ewins who hit the winning double in the first leg.

Ewins made a fantastic start in the second leg, opening with a ton and continued to outscore Young in a 2-0 win.

Nuffield Bar’s Hazel Prowton and Paulette Guy, who won the pairs title in 2011, did it again as they beat 2010 champions Chris and Shaz Thompson (Gillans Bar).

Gillans Bar lifted the Margaret Davies Cup for seven-a-side teams as they triumphed over a battling Village Inn.

Gemma Royall put the Inn ahead by beating Sue Simms, but Gillans Bar hit back in style with victories from Angie Turner, Jayne Godfrey, Sue Smith and Chris Thompson earning them the title.

l Teams are reminded that competition entries for the Winter League must be in by Monday, November 26.

l Ladies teams should note Section 7 side Corner House now play at Headington Conservatives Club in Windmill Road.

Meanwhile, Gladiators Soc-ial Club A have withdrawn from Section 2.
