OXFORD Hawks, who trailed twice in the first half, fought back to win 4-2 at home to Staines in Premier Division 1.

Staines took the lead against the run of play with a soft goal after five minutes.

Hawks equalised through Ric Corbett’s deflected rev-erse-stick shot, from a pass fired into the D by Charlie Ellison.

The visitors regained the lead, but Dave Cresswell dispatched a short corner to level the score.

Hawks finally went ahead after Sam Chilvers rounded the keeper and had his flick on goal stopped on the line by the chest of a Staines defender. Cresswell made no mistake with the penalty flick.

With Staines posing no real threat Hawks went further ahead in the second half. Sam Chilvers slipped the keeper for James Ward to hit a firm back-handed shot into the Staines goal.

Oxford also had to come from behind to draw 2-2 at home to Wallingford in Regional Division 1.

Wallingford started strongly against an Oxford side trying to bounce back from the previous week’s defeat by Eastcote, and took the lead midway through the first half.

The hosts equalised when Bas Majoor broke through two tackles on the 25-yard line before firing past the exposed keeper.

Wallingford regained the lead in the second half after Chris Way was robbed of the ball deep inside the Oxford half.

This spurred the hosts into action and they levelled again when a quickly taken free hit from Ben Richards was drilled into the D and deflected high off a defender's stick into the far corner of the net.

Witney produced a late comeback to overcome Ramgarhia 2-1 in Regional 2 on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Ramgarhia took the lead with a fierce shot.

From then on, it was all Witney, who equalised when Tim Hardy fired home a loose ball in the circle. Witney’s winner came five minutes from time through Liam Frost after good work down the right by Ben Wells.

Goals from Andy Small and Ben White earned Oxford 2nd a 2-1 win at home to Wycombe 2nd in Regional Division 2, after they had trailed at half-time.

Bicester made it five wins in a row with a 1-0 victory at home to Maidenhead 2nd in MBB&O Division 1.

The only goal came in the first half, when some skilful play from Jon Roger found Luke Smith, who swept the ball home.

In the second half, Maidenhead won a penalty. But their captain allowed himself to be psyched out by Pete Bowen, the Bicester goalkeeper, and put the ball well wide.
