Oxford City boss Mike Ford has admitted the goal-scoring return of Felipe Barcelos has given him plenty to ponder as they seek a Blue Square Bet North double away to Corby Town tomorrow.

He scored the winner two minutes after coming on in last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Sholing in the FA Carlsberg Trophy third qualifying round.

The Brazilian-born forward recently returned from South America where he was attending his sister’s wedding. “Felipe certainly made an impact when he came on,” said Ford.

“I am thinking of starting him Saturday, but he’s barely done any training.

“Felipe’s a forward and he got a goal, which not many of my forwards have done this season, so that puts him ahead of the others.

“He’s a good lad with a great character. We’ve had some young lads at the club who have left because it was too tough for them.

Ford said he did not feel his side’s midweek inactivity would give them the edge over Corby who played on Wednesday night.

He added: “I went to see them beat Wealdstone in the Trophy.

“They were quite decent when we played them here (City won 2-0).

“They have had a great result so they may be quite buoyant, which makes the tiredness disappear.”

City will be without Liam Malone (calf injury) and Albi Skendi who has joined Banbury United while Steve Basham is struggling to be fit.

Oxford City: Ingram, Mills, Stonehouse, Ballard, Learoyd, Willmott, Malone, Sharif, Pond, Stanley, Cook, Benjamin, Barcelos, Gunn, Basham.
