Ten-man North Leigh suffered late misery as they went down to an injury-time defeat at Wimborne in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.

With time running out, sub Steve Smith scored the winner after North Leigh had James Organ sent off on the hour.

The Millers started well, with Michael Alexis going close and Jimmy Deabill seeing his effort saved by Jason Harvell.

North Leigh went ahead when Deabill stole in at the back post to head in a corner past Harvell. Lewis Coyle almost doubled the lead when he broke clear, but was denied by the keeper.

North Leigh were reduced to ten men when Organ was sent off for bringing down Jamie Davidson when he was through on goal – Micky Hubbard firing the resulting penalty past Sam Warrell.

Deabill twice went close to levelling, but Harvell was equal to his efforts.

After the break, John Mills should have levelled, but fired wide following a mix-up between Harvell and defender Shaun Brian.

The game looked destined for a draw, only for Smith to fire home the winner in a goalmouth scramble.

North Leigh: Warrell, Hole, Organ, Turk, Franklin, Caton, Coyle (Sadler 83), Alexis (Clark 68), Mills, Deabill, Hopkins (Westlake 74).

Attendance: 242.
