MANY women can relate to the demands of being a full-time working mother and still managing to look great.
One Oxfordshire mother struggles with those challenges daily and has become a role model for women everywhere after being crowned the UK’s Yummiest Mummy.
Recruitment consultant and mother-of-two Kelly Durrant, from Caversfield, near Bicester, took the title after being chosen from thousands of entries.
Mrs Durrant said she only entered the competition because the prize was free school uniforms for a year, which she needed for her children, Hayden, six, and Abbi, nine.
The 33-year-old said: “I’m really pleased with winning and the kids were thrilled to bits. It’s nice to be voted the UK’s yummiest mummy.
“I was looking on the Internet for somewhere to get a school uniform, because it’s so expensive nowadays, and an advert for the competition flashed up.
“I just thought ‘why not?’ and put my name in. I didn’t think about it and then a few days later someone got in touch to tell me I had won. I couldn’t believe it.
“Part of the prize was a glamorous fashion shoot, which the kids came to – and they really loved it, particularly Abbi, who had a bit of a makeover.
“People have been coming up to my husband, Lee, and giving him a bit of stick, but I think he likes being married to a yummy mummy.
“I think I’ve got the best of both worlds in terms of being a working woman and a mother.
“When the kids were really young, I stopped working, because I didn’t want anyone else bringing them up.
“When they were old enough I went back, but as I work during school hours, they don’t notice me not being there.”
The competition was organised by clothing brand George at Asda and Mrs Durrant and her children will now work with the company to product test its clothes.
