New Lord Mayor takes over

LORD Mayor of Oxford Susanna Pressel handed over the chains of office to fellow city councillor Mary Clarkson today.
The ceremony was held in the Assembly Room at the Town Hall, St Aldate’s.
City councillor John Goddard was elected the new deputy Lord Mayor, while Green councillor Elise Benjamin became Sheriff.
Ms Pressel wished her colleague the best of luck in her new role and said she had enjoyed her time as Lord Mayor. She added: “It’s been an enormous privilege to serve as Lord Mayor of this very special city.
“I have been to over 600 engagements and learnt such a lot. I’m sure Mary will make an excellent Lord Mayor and I hope she enjoys her time as much as I have mine.”
Mrs Clarkson is ward councillor for Marston.
