THE worlds of boxing and art came together briefly over the weekend when Chris Eubank popped into a Woodstock art gallery.

Dave Davies, co-owner of Dantzig fine art gallery, was stunned to be paid a visit by the boxing legend on Saturday.

Mr Eubank, who now manages his son Chris Eubank Jr's boxing career, is said to have thoroughly enjoyed his visit to the gallery before setting off to the Salon Privé Concours d'Elégance Classic Cars Show at Blenheim Palace.

Mr Davies said: "I was outside my gallery on Saturday morning looking at my window display and the next minute Chris Eubank was standing next to me. He walked off and said 'I'll be back'. Twenty minutes later he walked into the gallery with a big smile and said 'you have some amazing art in here'.

"He was very stylishly dressed and really friendly. We talked about his son and he told me that he thought Woodstock was a beautiful town and that he was on his way to the Salon Privé event at Blenheim Palace."

Mr Davies said it was not the first time the gallery had been graced by a celebrity visitor, with actor Kevin Spacey being another recent guest.

The gallery is hosting an exhibition of work by David Freud, the son of Lucien Freud, from September 29 to the end of October.

Mr Davies invited Mr Eubank to attend the preview evening.
