A DRIVER had to be cut out of his car and rushed to hospital after veering off an A road into an embankment this afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the A40 just south of Witney at 1.23pm and discovered a single car which had ended up on the embankment next to the road.
Incident commander Mat Nind said: "On arrival we found the car off the road and up the embankment.
"Working closely with the ambulance service, firefighters quickly released the driver.
"The injuries sustained could have been far worse if they had not been wearing a seat belt.
"I would urge people to always wear seatbelts and drive appropriate to the road conditions."
After being freed using hydraulic cutting equipment, the man was taken to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service.
Thames Valley Police said the man did not appear to be seriously injured.
