A TEENAGER from Eynsham has hopes of being crowned Miss Junior Teen Great Britain after making it through to the semi-final of the competition.

Summer Davis, 13, who has her eyes set on a future in modelling and pageantry, will compete against girls her age from across the country to make it to the final in October.

The youngster is now on a list of 50 girls which will be whittled down to 20 by a panel of judges in June.

Summer said: “I really enjoy doing this so I was happy and excited when I found out I had made it to the semi-finals.

“I’m a little bit nervous but not as much as I thought I was going to be.

“My family and friends are all really pleased for me. Hopefully I have a chance of making it to the final.”

Last year Summer served as an attendant to the Carnival Queen at Eynsham Carnival – her sister, 17-year-old Trinity.

To enter Miss Junior Teen Great Britain she had to submit a photograph and answer a series of questions about herself.

She will also have to raise as much money as she can for Together for Short Lives, a national charity for children with life threatening and life-limiting illnesses.

Nicki, Summer's mum, said her daughter was considering holding a fun day in the village hall with cake sales and other stalls to raise funds.

She said: “They have to raise money for charity which is really good. A lot of it is about personality.

"Summer is really really excited about it and a bit nervous at the same time. She doesn’t get it from me.

“Even if she doesn’t win it’s been really good for her confidence.

“She was so thrilled but I was probably a bit more excited than she was. She’s really quite grounded."

Teenagers from across the country will compete for the crown in a grand final, held at The Globe in Blackpool in October.

The weekend of Miss Junior Teen Great Britain will see the finalists enjoying a Beauty Queen Challenge Day, a pyjama diva party and other activities,

The winner of the competition will walk away with several prizes, including £500.
