STUDENTS shone under the spotlight as a “stunning” performance of Oliver! left the audience wanting more.

Pupils from the Henry Box School in Witney had been rehearsing for the show since September last year, and staff, visitors and fellow classmates were impressed with their performances.

Head of drama Bethan Todd-Jones said: “We are immensely proud of all of the Henry Box students involved.

“We have been impressed by their outstanding dedication, commitment and enthusiasm.

“The performers were supported by a fantastic orchestra and stage crew also made up of students from across the school.”

Mrs Todd-Jones said the positive feedback from the audience was overwhelming, and that staff and fellow pupils were delighted every performance earlier this month was a sell-out.

She added: “This was a challenging show and they more than rose to the challenge.”

The lead roles were played by Edd Conroy, Laurie Day, Max Evans, Jess Hindley, Molly Mullins and Ben Oliver.

Year 6 pupils from the Batt School and Tower Hill School attended a midweek matinee performance of the show, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Teacher Sue Payne from the Batt School said: “It was lovely to see so many involved, including staff, and there were some excellent individual performances and a great chorus.”

PA to the head teacher at Henry Box, Eileen Bourton, said: “It was absolutely fantastic.”
