POPPIES sold in Witney from 2014 to 2015 made an incredible £25,000 for the Royal British Legion, and members of the local branch are saying thank you to everyone who helped make it happen.

Members of The Witney and District Royal British Legion have said a huge thanks to the people of Witney and West Oxfordshire, after they collected the impressive sum from November 2014 to November 2015.

Community fundraiser Mark Garwood said it was the highest amount they had collected in five years.

He said: “I want to thank all the members of the Witney branch too, for collecting this great amount of money. Our members went out into some pretty bad weather last winter, they’ve done really well.”

The money was collected through poppy sales, coffee mornings, table top events and other charity functions.
