HOOK Norton Brewery has picked up a sheaf of prizes for its brews in the annual beer ‘Olympics’.

The North Oxfordshire brewery was handed four silver medals and three bronze medals at the International Beer Challenge 2015.

It also won two golds and two bronzes at the World Beer Awards, as well as two ‘best in class’ awards.

The International Beer Challenge saw more than 630 beers from 30 countries compete for the top prizes.

It was judged by UK beer experts and experienced judges from continental Europe.

Each beer was tasted blind and Hook Norton picked up silver for its Twelve Days, Double Stout, Haymaker and Flagship brews.

Hooky Gold, Banks’s Mild and Hooky were awarded bronze.

The World Beer awards select the best international beer styles and only beers which are generally available for sale in bottles or cans are eligible to enter.

Hook Norton’s Red Rye and Twelve Days were given top honours by being selected to represent the United Kingdom in the final round of judging to determine the world’s best beer.

Gold medals were awarded to Mild and Double Stout and bronze medals to Hooky and First Light.

Hook Norton managing director James Clarke said: “We are extremely proud to have been recognised for all of the hard work and dedication the team here have put in to produce these world class beers and to be flying the flag for the UK.”
