AN ancient site popular with astronomers has been officially recognised as a top place to stargaze.
The Rollright Stones, near Chipping Norton, received the Dark Sky Discovery award at a special ceremony on Saturday.
The status is awarded to places away from street lighting that provide a clear and unimpeded view of the night sky.
The site is a complex of three neolithic and Bronze Age megalithic monuments and is a favourite location for the Chipping Norton Amateur Astronomy Group
