A 12-YEAR-OLD schoolboy needed hospital treatment after a collision with a car in Chipping Norton.

The crash happened in West Street at about 8.30am yesterday and police closed the road between The Green and The Leys.

South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman Catherine Morrow said the boy was taken to hospital suffering head injuries.

Retired bookseller Hamish Bain, 75, also from West Street, said wife Frances, 74, attended to the youngster.

He said: “We heard some crying, that’s when we pulled the blind up.

“We saw a child on the floor, we didn't see it happen.

“My wife took a blanket over and some hot water bottles.”

University of Leicester lecturer Catherine Morley, 37, from West Street, added: “I opened up the curtains and saw him on the ground. I did go to see him. He was covered with blankets, he was conscious but in pain.”

The mum-of-one said: “There have been accidents here before.

“About two years ago a car came down and mounted the pavement and went into a wall.”

There was no update last night on the boy’s condition.
