DARING families who go to a Chipping Norton farm will have a trip like no other this week.

The team at Fairytale Farm are busy transforming their magical attraction into a Halloween nightmare.

Older children and adults are invited to Nightmare Farm when the lights go out on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Volunteer Edwina Fawcett said: “Being scared is fun. I’m just hoping lots of people turn up and everybody gets in the spirit of it.

“Seeing lots of children getting dressed up and putting on face paint, that would make it for me.”

The farm, off the A44 at Southcombe, opened last year and is aimed at being accessible for children with learning and physical disabilities.

The Halloween attraction is to bring to life the legend of Southcombe Abbey which is said to have stood at the Fairytale Farm site.

It’s Enchanted Walk will be turned into a giant outdoor horror maze where live actors will lurk among the maze walls on the hunt for terrified guests.

But a brave monk will guide visitors through the terrifying depths of the maze to safety.

Lana Summers, who will be one of the maze’s “lost souls”, said: “It’s great doing the scaring instead of being the one that’s scared.”

Maze walks will take place every 20 minutes between 6.30pm and 10pm on all three days.

Young children are invited to attend the farm’s daytime Halloween event between 10am and 5pm.
