DOG walkers went for a stroll in a private meadows to raise money for a West Oxfordshire rehoming centre.

About 30 people took part in the Burford Ramble, a 5km and 10km walk in aid of the Blue Cross animal welfare charity.

They set off at 11am yesterday, and groups took up to two hours walking along the footpaths surrounding the centre in Shilton Road, Burford.

Witney resident Justine Pugh, 36, took part in the event with seven members of her family and three dogs, including her three children and 11-month-old mixed breed Lola.

She said: “We just like having a wander along the fields, which we don’t usually get the chance to do.

“It’s a great day and a nice place to go for a walk where you won’t come cross roads with the children and dog.”
