TWO 16-year-old boys have been arrested after gang violence erupted on the streets of Faringdon last night.

Police were called to quiet Harding Close at about 10.30pm to reports that the gang had assaulted a 16-year-old boy.

The youths were also seen throwing bins, throwing a brick at a house and damaging a Ford vehicle.

Police attended the scene and one officer was assaulted.

Police have now said a 16-year-old boy from Faringdon has been charged with assaulting a police constable, obstructing a police constable and using threatening or abusive words. He is due to appear at Oxford Magistrates' Court on May 30.

Another 16-year-old was arrested in connected with the assault on the boy. He has been released under investigation.
