THE family of a 15-year-old boy from Wantage who died after an incident at his home have said his loss is a horror they cannot describe.

Dylan Edwards, of Larkdown, Wantage, died on Friday, October 23.

An air ambulance was called to a “fear for welfare” at his house in the afternoon and he was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford but did not survive.

Dylan, a pupil at King Alfred’s Academy in Wantage, was an active member of the Sweatbox Youth Club at the school’s East Site on Springfield Road.

Tributes have poured in to a Facebook page set up in his memory describing him as a “cheerful and cheeky chap” who will never be forgotten.

Dylan’s mother Annette Edwards said the family had been “overwhelmed” by the heartfelt response from friends and neighbours.

She said: “We would like to thank the community and extended community from the bottom of our hearts for their love and support. We have been overwhelmed with kindness.

“We are completely devastated by this loss. It has turned our whole world upside down – it is a horror I can’t begin to describe. He was our whole world.”

Dylan’s funeral will be held at St Peter and St Paul Church in Wantage from noon on Tuesday.

The family have asked anyone who would like to do something in Dylan’s memory to make a donation either to the Sweatbox, or mental health charities Young Minds and the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust.

An inquest at Oxford Coroner’s Court yesterday gave the cause of death as hanging, but a full hearing will be held at the court on March 1.
