NCT nearly new organisers, from left, Sarah Simmons, Kerry Whitfield and Steph Rorke celebrate outside the Abbey Sports Centre and Youth Club, which has stepped in to help
ONE of Oxfordshire’s popular charity events was in dire straits earlier this month when its usual venue became unavailable.
But thanks to a sports centre in Berinsfield, the National Childbirth Trust’s nearly new sale will take place as normal later this year.
Organisers from the NCT’s Wallingford branch worried when their usual home at Cranford House School in Moulsford would be unavailable because of work scheduled to take place there in October. The group estimated it could lose between £5,000 and £7,000 in revenue if the October 20 event had to be scrapped.
But co-organiser Sarah Simmons said: “We’ve been saved by the Abbey Sports Centre and Youth Club, who will accommodate us.
“All money raised goes back into the charity so we were worried we would lose a lot of money.”
