A MASSIVE tree which fell across three gardens this morning brought down telephone wires and destabilised telegraph poles.

Oxfordshire fire service was called to the scene in Brook Street, Benson at 9.46am.

On arrival the crews from Oxford and Kidlington found a large tree that had fallen into the gardens of three homes bringing down telephone wires and destabilising telegraph poles.

Oxford Mail:

The crews put up a safety cordon and warned people to stay at a safe distance while investigating whether any other utilities had been affected.

A specialist rescue crew with chainsaws worked with BT Open Reach to remove branches and make the scene safe.

Crew manager Nick Mason said: "Fortunately no one was in the gardens at the time the tree fell.

"The priority was to make sure everyone was evacuated from the immediate vicinity and a safety cordon was put in place."
